What is Drishti?
What do I mean when I talk about 'Drishti' in power yoga class?
In our newsletter yesterday I spoke about the purpose of our yoga practice or Asana being to access deeper peace, or stillness.
And in that sense our practice is a moving meditation.
Our 'Drishti' refers to a focused gaze.
Amongst other things it helps with our balance and also pulls our attention inwards and away from what's going on externally.
It means that we can remain inward, despite being in a room surrounded by other students.
Our Drishti is a gateway into Dharana (concentration), which in turn allows us to gently slide into Dhyana (meditation or total absorption).
